Migrated to WordPress

After running for several years with MT, I have changed to using WordPress. The main reason was that it’s one of the precondigured apps offered by my hosting provider, and I was sick to doing MT upgrades.

Everything seems to have come over okay but I apologize in advance for any quirky behaviour.

Update Okay, it looks like the code formatting on a number of my posts is screwed, and there is no easy way to put in a source-code beautifier that understands textile. So I’ll have to convert the MT Textile I was using into the BBCode highlighting used by wordpress. I’m going to do this by hand, mostly because going through each article and scanning it will give me an excuse to tag them. So if you come across an article where the formatting is stuffed, please bear with me or just let me know by commenting on that article.

On a related note: the tag cloud will be building up over the next few days.

Author: Robert Watkins

My name is Robert Watkins. I am a software developer and have been for over 20 years now. I currently work for people, but my opinions here are in no way endorsed by them (which is cool; their opinions aren’t endorsed by me either). My main professional interests are in Java development, using Agile methods, with a historical focus on building web based applications. I’m also a Mac-fan and love my iPhone, which I’m currently learning how to code for. I live and work in Brisbane, Australia, but I grew up in the Northern Territory, and still find Brisbane too cold (after 22 years here). I’m married, with two children and one cat. My politics are socialist in tendency, my religious affiliation is atheist (aka “none of the above”), my attitude is condescending and my moral standing is lying down.
