I'm number one!

In Google for Robert Watkins. Yay!

Actually, I've been here before... when I had my blog on JRoller, I got to #1 for my name search in about five months (thanks to JRoller's own heavy page rank). However, when I moved to my own domain, naturally it took time for the site to rise in the page ranks, and the JRoller blog fell off the list fairly fast.

So... nearly 14 months to get back on top, or about three times as long to create page rank from nothing. Not bad, really. :) No more will I have to see Mr ContractMCSE at the top of the Google ranks.

I'm not so big on Yahoo and MSN; Mr ContractMCSE tops both those lists. But it's not all bad... I've only got 1 hit in the Google top 10, but I've got 2 on Yahoo (results 2 and 5), and 2 on MSN as well (the page on Ward's Wiki is me as well). I'm midly disappointed that I lost the other top-10 entries on Google as well; I used to have 4 entries in the top-10, even though my main site was way back around number 46. But all in all, I'd rather have the number 1 slot - better bragging rights.

To put this all in context though: the number 1 search term in July to hit my site is "hibernate named queries"?http://www.google.com/search?q=hibernate+named+queries, which an article of mine is the first Google hit. I didn't get a single hit for my own name... ;)

Update: Looks like I spoke to soon about MSN: I'm number one there now as well!
