Moving on - reflections

I'm leaving Suncorp in January, after about 3 years there. I'm taking up a position at wotif.com, where I will be joining a small team that drives their website.

My time at Suncorp was largely a change-agent role. I came in to help get Suncorp serious about doing J2EE-based and agile development. I had successes and failures in doing this, but mostly successes, I guess. However, being a change agent requires a lot of personal skills and persuasive skills. To do it for a long period of time takes a particular type of personality, and it's not mine. That's why I'm moving on.

However, if anyone is interested, there's a vacancy for a skilled Java developer and agile enthusiast. Suncorp is an interesting place to work, and the right sort of person would do very well indeed. It's not a role for someone interested in solving hard technical problems, but if you are interested in helping to mentor and develop teams, then it would probably suit you. And, of course, you get the Queensland climate as a bonus. ;)

Seriously, if anyone is interested, drop me a line at robertdw@twasink.net, and I'll put you in touch with the right people.
